Moni Hill’s paintings are meant to serve as reminders of the extraordinary beauty surrounding us in the Asheville area of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Set among some of the oldest mountains on Earth, this region is uniquely vast, wild, biodiverse, and deeply peaceful, qualities that are increasingly rare. Moni’s work reflects the complexity and richness of these mountain landscapes, offering a way to carry a piece of that experience home. These wild places are vital for us and all of life, and Moni’s paintings celebrate their presence and importance.

Biography

Moni Hill is an abstract landscape painter inspired by the biodiversity and beauty of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. She has lived in Asheville, North Carolina, for over twenty years with her husband and three daughters. Having lived up and down the Appalachian range, from Virginia to Connecticut, her deep connection to these mountains is shaped by a lifetime of movement, observation, and time spent outdoors as an avid hiker, cloud-chaser, and water-hole seeker. Born in Berlin, Germany, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Moni draws artistic influence from landscape painters such as Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt, and Georgia O’Keeffe, blending their expressive use of color with her own direct experience of place. She has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the Southeast and works closely with clients and designers to create meaningful pieces that honor and reflect their most cherished landscapes.
